Every generation has its own version of a custom scene. The early 1920s had scramblers, the ‘50s had cafe racers, and the ‘70s had choppers. With the turn of the century, a new wave emerged, marked by Frankenstein customs. Now, young builders bought whatever cheap old bike they could and turned them into whatever they wanted to. This resulted in some unique gems, like minimoto-dragsters, Gold Wing-based café racers, and ADV-supermotos.

Of all the unique Frenken-builds of recent years, many custom builds stand out as being aggressive both in their performance and design. Some of these bikes unlock the full potential of the donors, while others completely rework what the donor even stood for. Then there are a few that are so outrageous, you might think they’re entirely fictional and picked off a movie set. While design is subjective, here are ten such aggressive custom motorcycles we think deserve your attention.

To give you the most up-to-date and accurate information possible, the data used to compile this article was sourced from authoritative sources, such as BMW Motorrad, Hazan Motoworks, K-Speed, etc. The models are listed based on their respective donor bike’s power figures, from low to high.

Monkey Bomber by K-Speed

Donor Bike: Honda Monkey (9.2 HP)

When talking about aggressive motorcycles, the cute little Honda Monkey is the last to come to mind. Still, a Thai custom shop, K-Speed, has managed to make the otherwise out of the Monkey: a badass bobber. The bike still retains the Monkey’s small proportions, now paired with a raked-out front end, chunky knobbies, a bulked-up frame, and shorter rear shocks. The result is a scaled-down bobber that looks pretty aggressive, despite its smaller size. K-Speed has gained a reputation for turning pint-sized Honda motorcycles into impressive customs, and the Monkey Bomber might be its best example yet.

Demo Track by FatBoy Design X Slayer House

Donor Bike: Harley-Davidson Forty Eight (70.8 LB-FT)

Demo Track by FatBoy Design and Slayer House FatBoy Design

Turning a Harley-Davidson Forty Eight into a Lamborghini-inspired sports bike is super tricky, but not impossible, and the Demo Track proves just that. This Lambo-inspired sports bike sports some serious track-ready modifications, including a re-mapped ECU, a new Jagg oil-cooler, Showa/Ohlins suspension, carbon fiber bodywork, and a lot more. Even Roland Sands Design makes an appearance with its grips, café gauge relocator, and Raid wheels. It’s an aggressive sports bike that shows how capable Thai custom shops are at breaking conventions.

Desert Wolves by El Solitario

Donor Bike: Harley-Davidson Roadster 1200 (76 LB-FT)

El Solitario Desert Wolves Harley-Davidson

El Solitario’s Desert Wolves was a unique project to take on the hostile Sahara Desert. And for the job, the Spanish custom shop customized three Roadster models into Franken-enduro motorcycles. These bikes got dirt-ready Ohlins suspension, tattoo-over-tar paintwork, large PIAA dual-headlights, a taller stance, and much more.

While the Roadster may be a hefty bike for off-roading, El Solitario managed to make it capable enough to cross the 2,500-mile ride across the challenging desert terrain. This is one example where custom motorcycles actually deliver on the promise of performance and capability. Most other customs are reserved for show business. We wouldn’t be surprised if this custom even survives the apocalypse!

Hazan S1 by Hazan Motorworks

Donor Bike: Buell S1 Lightning (101 HP)

During the COVID lockdown, Max Hazan got back to reviving his first street bike, the Buell S1 Lighting, which he’d blown up after a botched DIY nitrous setup many years ago. This time, he rebuilt the bike from the ground up, adding a turbocharger, intercooler, and high-performance parts, along with a sharp, aggressive hand-shaped aluminum bodywork. The result is a wild, aggressive custom naked capable of producing 200 horsepower, and, thanks to its short wheelbase, it promises to be pretty fun to ride on the road.

Philip Ludwig is a veteran of Sultans of Sprints, known for building badass boxer BMW motorcycles. His latest creation is the Titan, which is a full-blown Skunkworks special by the BMW prototype workshop. It’s designed to be a sprint racer, with Ludwig bringing his sprint-racing expertise, and it uses a forward-heavy design with a monocoque shell, a small seat pad, and plenty of parts taken from the BMW M 1000 RR. Combined, the new bodywork and high-end components reduce the bike’s weight by 88 pounds, while the nitrous injection system is said to add 30–40 horsepower to the bike’s performance. Ludwig has plans to race it, so keep an eye out for this badass BMW in sprint races.

Hazan Motorworks Rally SM Hazan Motorworks

The Rally SM is yet another Hazan special, and like the HS1, even this unique supermoto promises to offer a wild on-road performance. It’s based on the KTM 1190 Adventure R, which has shed 90 pounds and gained 15 horses, along with an RC8 swingarm and Yamaha R1 Ohlins shock. There are also plenty of carbon fiber bits, Brembo brakes, Marchesini wheels, and a brutal yet minimalist design. It’s a one-of-a-kind rally-inspired supermoto that looks like a work of art at a standstill and should feel like the ultimate supermoto when ridden.

Superscrambler by Black Cycles Australia

Donor Bike: Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 (150 HP)

Take a Harley-Davidson Pan America, strip it of its adventure fairing, and add some motocross-inspired bits, and you’ll get the slim and trim Superscrambler. Built by Black Cycles Australia, this is a sharp, edgy street scrambler featuring two fuel tanks, twin Highsider LED headlights, a high-mount fender, custom exhaust and bash plates, and much more.

Then there’s the stunning matte paint and custom graphics, which give it a pretty badass look. If given the chance, we’d pick this scrambler over any available at a dealership today. This bike shows that, during desperate times, even full-size adventure bikes can be turned into wild custom enduros!

Concept 101 by Roland Sands Design X BMW Motorrad

Donor Bike: BMW K 1600 B (160 HP)

Concept 101 by Roland Sands Design X BMW Motorrad  BMW Motorrad

The Concept 101 is yet another BMW Motorrad special, this time made in collaboration with Roland Sands Design. It’s a unique take on touring motorcycles, where RSD adds to the bike’s design instead of completely revamping it. The custom tourer gets a silver paint surface with brushed aluminum and carbon bits, and it’s complemented by dark wood elements that are said to add a warm touch to the bike’s design.

There are also some signature RSD parts, like the clutch cover, timing chain cover, and wheels. The Concept 101 may not be as wild as other custom bikes on this list, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s a sharp, brutal highway tourer with a warm side that looks badass and doesn’t fix what isn’t broken on the donor bike.

Donor Bike: Ducati Diavel V4 (168 HP)

Vtopia Anima Vtopia Design

You might know Vtopia from the radical bodywork they developed for the Ducati-powered Vyrus motorcycles. And the Anima is their latest project, bringing futuristic sci-fi and anime design language to the real world. In fact, its bright purple and layered bodywork, along with seven-part upholstery, CNC-machined details, and gnarly design elements, are said to look animated even at a standstill. It’s easily the wildest, most aggressive custom bike we’ve seen so far, which makes Vyrus look regular in comparison. Vtopia plans to build five bikes with this prototype template, and they are up for grabs today.
