It slowly picked up the pace when the market recovered and Mahindra started cashing in on the sales. Over 2 lakh units have been sold to date, and the number continues to grow as Mahindra updates the vehicle. For 2025, Mahindra has kept things simple, and they’ve not made any mechanical changes to the Thar. The same set of powertrains has been carried over, and even the suspension setup remains unchanged. There are a bunch of cosmetic updates to the car, primarily based on customer feedback that the company has received since launch. We got to spend some time with the Mahindra Thar Facelift at the Mahindra Adventure Off-Road training academy in Igatpuri. So let’s have a look at all the changes.2025 Mahindra Thar Facelift PriceMahindra launched the Thar Facelift at a starting price of Rs. 9.99 lakh. It is available with 3 engine options – a 1.5-litre diesel engine, a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, and a 2.0-litre petrol engine. There are 2 variant lineups – AXT & LXT, and you can find the detailed price list here. When you look at the prices, the starting price has been reduced by ~ Rs. 33,000, and that helps in making the Thar more accessible. The prices for other variants have gone up slightly. The bump is from Rs. 29,000 to Rs. 41,000, depending on the variant. It’s a fair increase in price considering the feature additions in the new car.2025 Mahindra Thar Facelift Exterior ReviewYou get an updated radiator grille and bumper, but the overall design remains unchanged: No changes at the rear except for the dual-tone bumper (LXT variant only): Side profile remains unchanged. Ground clearance = 226 mm: The outgoing Thar’s red shade was called ‘Red Rage’ and was a solid colour. It has now been replaced by this ‘Tango Red’ metallic paint shade, which is also available on the Roxx: Earlier this year, Mahindra rejigged the variants, and the convertible top was discontinued. That will continue with the facelift as well. The Thar will be available with a hard top only: A closer look at the body coloured radiator grille. I feel Mahindra should’ve taken this chance to play around with the design of the grille and brought out something that will distinguish the facelift from the outgoing car: When the Thar was launched, it had a dual tone bumper like this one, and in June 2022, Mahindra deleted some features and went for an all-black bumper. Thankfully, with the facelift, the dual-tone bumper makes a comeback: The alloy wheel design is unchanged. These are 18-inch rims shod with 255/65 section all-terrain tyres: The outgoing Thar’s fuel lid could be opened only with the key. That was primarily for security in the soft-top version. However, with that out of the way, you can now open the fuel lid from the inside. Eagle-eyed BHPians will notice the slight difference in paint shade of the body panel and the fuel lid: New on the facelift is a rear wiper + washer. The placement is also such that the wiper is mostly hidden behind the tailgate-mounted spare wheel. This is available only on the LXT variant and not the AXT: The washer spray is placed on the windshield. I may be nitpicking here, but I do feel that if the washer were integrated with the hinge above, it would’ve looked much cleaner: You now get a rear-view camera that’s placed within the tailgate-mounted spare wheel: The Battleship Grey paint shade from the Roxx also makes its way to the Thar facelift: Read Team-BHP’s detailed 2025 Mahindra Thar Facelift review here.
