2025 Mercedes GLE-Class – New Features, Trim Levels, and Performance Review!

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class offers a premium mid-size sport utility vehicle experience, positioned between the more compact GLC and the larger, more luxurious GLS. It delivers a strong mix of comfort, technology, and prestige. This year, Mercedes-Benz introduces new personalization options through the Manufaktur line, offering special paint finishes, fine interior materials, and even a new Signature Interior package that adds upscale features such as headrest pillows, deep floor mats, and premium leather throughout the cabin. These upgrades help blur the line between a standard Mercedes and the ultra-luxurious Maybach models.

One of the biggest updates for 2025 is the introduction of the GLE450 Coupe in a non-performance version, expanding the coupe-styled body option to buyers beyond the AMG line. While the GLE may not be as sporty as some competitors like the Genesis GV80 or Porsche Cayenne, it focuses more on a smooth and quiet driving experience, with high levels of comfort and elegance.

There are several engine options in the GLE lineup. The GLE350 is the entry-level model, powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 255 horsepower. It comes with rear-wheel drive, though all-wheel drive is available. Next is the GLE450, which uses a turbocharged inline-six engine producing 362 horsepower, combined with a mild hybrid system for improved efficiency and smoother performance. For those who want more power, the GLE580 uses a twin-turbo eight-cylinder engine supported by a mild hybrid system. It produces 504 horsepower, making it the most powerful non-AMG option.

All models come with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Performance is solid across the lineup. In testing, the GLE350 reached sixty miles per hour in 6.6 seconds, while the GLE450 did it in 5.3 seconds. The GLE580 is the fastest among them, reaching that speed in just 4.3 seconds.

Fuel efficiency varies depending on the model. The most efficient is the rear-wheel drive GLE350, which is estimated at 21 miles per gallon in the city and 28 on the highway. All-wheel drive lowers those numbers slightly. The GLE450 averages 19 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the highway. The GLE580, with its powerful eight-cylinder engine, gets around 15 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway.

Inside, the GLE features high-quality materials like genuine leather, wood, and brushed metal. Comfort is a top priority. Heated seats are available, and even the armrests and center console can be heated. A third row of seats is optional, though it may be tight for adults. Cargo space is generous. With the third row folded, the GLE can fit 11 carry-on suitcases. With all seats down, it holds up to 26.

With a starting price of around 63,000 US dollars and rising to nearly 95,000 dollars depending on options and trim, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class offers a luxurious driving experience for those who value refinement and style over outright sportiness.
