2025 Nissan Patrol Revealed: More Power, Better Efficiency!

The highly anticipated 2025 Nissan Patrol has been teased for the first time, generating excitement among car enthusiasts as it prepares for its debut. This new model is expected to hit international showrooms within the next year. However, it’s unclear when it will arrive in Australia, with speculation suggesting it could take several years, similar to its predecessor, the ‘Y62’.

Nissan has announced that the new four-wheel-drive vehicle will be unveiled and available for sale in select overseas markets within the Japanese fiscal year 2024. One of the significant updates in this model is the shift from the 5.6-liter V8 engine to a smaller but more powerful twin-turbocharged V6 engine. This new engine, already seen in the luxury Infiniti QX80, promises to deliver 336 kilowatts of power, along with improved fuel efficiency.

In a sneak peek during a Nissan future-model preview, the new Patrol showcased features like tall LED headlights and tail-lights, with a full-width rear light bar enhancing its modern look. Similar to the current models, the new Patrol, also known as the Armada in the US, is expected to share its body design, chassis, and engine with the new Infiniti QX80. The new model presents a boxier and more contemporary appearance compared to the outgoing version.

Spy photos have revealed that the Patrol will have unique front wheel arches with vertical vents and traditional pull-type door handles, unlike the flush-fitting, pop-out units seen in the QX80. Inside, the new Patrol promises a more modern dashboard equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for right-hand-drive markets, a feature already available in left-hand-drive countries.

There has been no mention of hybrid or plug-in hybrid options for the new Patrol. Nissan executives have indicated that an electric version will not be feasible until next-generation solid-state battery technology is ready, which is expected by 2028.

The new ‘Y63’ Nissan Patrol will utilize a version of the QX80’s 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged petrol V6. While it might be slightly less powerful than the Infiniti’s 336 kilowatts and 698 newton-meters of torque, it still marks an increase from the 298 kilowatts and 560 newton-meters produced by the old 5.6-liter V8.
