The Jeep Cherokee is back and it’s making a big statement for 2026. Jeep has completely redesigned its midsize SUV with more space, more tech, a hybrid powertrain, and the off-road capability the brand is known for. The 2026 Cherokee will arrive at dealerships in late 2025, starting at $36,995 including destination.

2026 Jeep Cherokee

For the first time, the Cherokee is powered by a hybrid engine. Under the hood sits a new 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid system that pairs with two electric motors and a battery to produce 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque. Jeep estimates a combined 37 mpg and over 500 miles of range on a single tank—making it one of the most efficient SUVs in its class.

Step inside and the 2026 Cherokee is larger and more tech-focused than ever. Cargo space is up 30% compared to the previous generation, thanks in part to a new rotary gear selector that frees up space. The interior design arrives with modern tech, offering a standard 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Every Cherokee also comes standard with Jeep’s Uconnect 5 system, a host of driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and Jeep’s new Connect One services package, which includes 10 years of OTA updates, SOS calls, and remote functions at no extra charge.

Higher trims add available luxuries like ventilated seats, a dual-pane sunroof, a premium audio system, and even a 360-degree camera.

Even with its focus on efficiency and comfort, the Cherokee hasn’t forgotten its roots. Standard 4×4 capability comes via Jeep’s Active Drive I system with Selec-Terrain drive modes for Auto, Sport, Snow, and Sand/Mud. Jeep claims best-in-class approach and departure angles, up to 8 inches of ground clearance, and plenty of trail-ready hardware.

The 2026 Cherokee adopts a more squared-off and upright design that pulls cues from past Cherokee models. Up front, boxy LED headlights frame Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille, while the rear gets distinctive jerrycan-inspired taillights. The new Cherokee is longer, taller, and wider than before, giving it a stronger road presence.

Inside, Jeep uses a mix of sustainable and premium materials, with recycled carpeting, non-leather options, and unique trim finishes depending on the model.

2026 Jeep Cherokee

The 2026 Jeep Cherokee lineup will include the base Cherokee, Laredo, Limited, and Overland trims. Pricing starts at $36,995 with destination, while the more upscale Limited and Overland versions will arrive first in late 2025 at $42,495 and $45,995, respectively. The entry-level Cherokee and Laredo will follow in early 2026. Production will take place at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico.
