Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the all-new electric GLC, the brand’s first electric version of its best-selling SUV. Set to arrive in the U.S. in the second half of 2026, the new GLC brings a bold design, advanced tech, and strong performance as it transitions one of Mercedes’ most important models into the EV era.
At launch, the lineup will be led by the GLC 400 4MATIC, which delivers 483 horsepower and up to 713 kilometers (443 miles) of range on the WLTP cycle. Built on a new electric-first architecture, the GLC uses an 800-volt system that supports ultra-fast charging, capable of adding 303 kilometers (188 miles) of range in just 10 minutes.
Inside, the GLC debuts the largest screen ever fitted to a Mercedes — the optional 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. It runs on the new MB.OS operating system, powered by AI that adapts to driver preferences and supports over-the-air updates. Features include a virtual assistant that integrates Google and Microsoft AI, a new navigation system, and access to apps like Disney+.
Mercedes also offers the industry’s first vegan-certified interior, developed with The Vegan Society, alongside more traditional leather and high-end material options. A starry-sky panoramic roof with illuminated glass is also available.
Compared to the gas-powered GLC, the EV version grows in size, offering more legroom, headroom, and cargo capacity. It features a front trunk (frunk) and can tow up to 5,291 lbs, making it one of the most versatile EV SUVs in its segment.
On the road, the GLC benefits from rear-axle steering, optional air suspension from the S-Class, and a new braking system that maximizes energy recuperation.
On the outside the GLC introduces a new illuminated grille with up to 942 LED elements, giving the SUV a striking presence day or night. Its aerodynamic profile helps achieve a drag coefficient of 0.26, boosting both efficiency and range.
The new GLC supports both 400-volt and 800-volt DC fast charging and comes equipped with intelligent route planning that can even reserve a charging station in advance at select hubs. Production will take place at Mercedes’ Bremen plant, with a strong focus on reducing the carbon footprint throughout the supply chain.
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz Electric GLC will launch first in GLC 400 4MATIC form, with additional variants expected later. U.S. pricing will be announced closer to its arrival in 2026.
