Today we are extremely excited to announce the availability of Accessport tuning for the 2020-2022 Subaru Outback XT, Wilderness, and Legacy XT!  The more we work with Subaru’s 2.4L DIT motor, the more we love it.  We first worked with the FA24 developing Accessport tuning support for the 2019-2020 Ascent and then later in the 2022+ WRX.  Along the way, we have fielded numerous requests to add Accessport tuning for the Outback and Legacy vehicles powered by the same 2.4L turbocharged power plant.  A major component of this effort was time spent by the COBB Calibration Team learning to work within the reigns of Subaru’s CVT control strategy.  Luckily, we picked up a great deal of knowledge during the development of calibrations for CVT equipped VB WRXs and have been able to apply some of those findings to the Outback/Legacy applications.

Accessport for Ascent / Outback / Legacy

The Accessport is the world’s best selling, most flexible, and easiest to use ECU upgrade solution for your 2.4L Subaru Ascent, Outback, and Legacy. Unlock power hidden within the vehicle by replacing conservative factory settings with more aggressive calibrations. Follow our staged upgrade path with pre-loaded Off The Shelf (OTS) maps or use custom mapping for any modification level. It’s the last engine management solution you’ll ever need.

Vehicles Supported

The following vehicles are now supported by the AP3-SUB-005 Accessport, previously only applicable to the 2019-2022 Subaru Ascent. Units in the field simply need a firmware update to 1.7.5.0-25609 (or newer) to add vehicle compatibility.

And yes, we are in the early stages of investigation to add support for 2023+ Outback, Legacy, and Ascent vehicles with the same turbocharged 2.4L power plant.  We hope to have news on that front towards the end of 2024!

Off The Shelf Maps & Power Gains

The Accessport will come with our COBB Off The Shelf Maps pre-loaded.  Simply plug the Accessport into your car’s OBDII port and follow the on-screen instructions to install the map file that matches your application.  The Stage0 map file uses all stock calibration data, the car will perform exactly as it did stock.  All Stage1 maps are intended to be used with an otherwise stock car.  Simply choose whichever best fits your octane or use case.

Stage0‎ v100.ptm

Stage1 87+ v100.ptm

Stage1 91 v100.ptm

Stage1 93 v100.ptm

Stage1 Economy Mode v100.ptm

Stage1 Valet Mode v100.ptm

Vehicle Anti-Theft Mode v100.ptm

For more details and modification requirements for COBB OTS Maps, see our Map Notes Page.

The COBB Outback and Legacy XT maps create more power than stock and maximize the utility of the factory DAM octane sensing system by linking it to several mechanisms to both fine tune the calibration and protect the engine and drivetrain. Engine load (boost), fuel enrichment, and ignition timing are all susceptible to changes in DAM/Octane.  In addition to utilizing the factory DAM system, we have also implemented safeties based on both engine oil and intake air temperatures.  If either is outside of ideal ranges, power will be reduced to protect the engine components.  These safety features are NOT used in the stock or Stage0 calibration data but are implemented across the rest of our OTS Maps.  More on those systems can be found here: Subaru Dynamic Advance.

On to the good stuff!  Below you will find a dyno chart that displays power output of a totally stock car as well as with our Stage 1 calibrations.  Increased power under the curve is substantial for both 91 and 93 octane variants of the Stage 1 calibration.   Peak increases are found where the motor makes its maximum output for torque or horsepower.  Max increases represent the single largest delta between stock and tuned. Average increases  represent the overall added power under the curve.

*The Accessport and Stage 1 Off The Shelf Maps are currently 59-State Legal, covered by CARB Executive Order D-660-211.*

Custom Tuning Support

Subaru Accesstuner Pro HL has also received an update to add custom tuning support for the Outback and Legacy.  Any of our Subaru Protuners can create a custom calibration for use with your Accessport.
