He forked around and found out
What is the first thing you’d do with a stolen forklift? If you’re one Florida man, you’d try to nab an ATM too. But the gift that keeps on giving went sideways fast.
Police in Tallahassee, Florida, say a concerned neighbor called about a forklift in the street in the middle of the night. The neighbor even grabbed footage for police. The vehicle—very responsibly—had all its lights flashing as it trundled down the street with a large object on its forks.
When an officer arrived, the driver hopped out of the cab. The officer asked, “What’s up bro? What y’all got going on?”
The ATM hauler offered, “I dropped this thing over here…” He didn’t finish his sentence, but he led the officer to the front of the forklift. The ATM had fallen off the forks. That’s one way to make it rain money.
No sooner had the suspect rounded the machine than he took off at a sprint.
The officer yelled for him to stop, chased him, and radioed in a description.
It turns out the Florida man nabbed the forklift from a school. Then he set out on an errand, grabbing an ATM that belonged to a nearby business.
The department released the chase body cam footage and footage taken later of the man on the ground. You can see all the video embedded below.
