BHPian DSK0909 recently shared this with other enthusiasts: I bought a XUV700 AX7L Diesel AT AWD Ebony Edition – Oct 2025 manufactured and took delivery on 17-Nov-2025. It has been nicknamed as Bagheera, after my favorite childhood character from ‘The Jungle Book’. The new car buying process spanned years together – watching Youtube videos and reading T-BHP reviews and ownership threads. In between I bought a used Baleno as a stop gap which I used it for 6 years. My family went through a high whenever I started researching seriously about a car and through a low when I told them the ‘perceived’ flaws in the car or when I showed them the Buy vs Rent calculation. Due to this lengthy process now my wife and son know the difference between Petrol vs Diesel; Manual vs Automatic; FWD-RWD-4*4-AWD; BOF vs Monocoque; pros and cons of ADAS et al. Not been able to make an impression on my daughter though – she thinks of a car as a means to reach from point A to B in relative comfort.Coming to the point – the D Day (Delivery Day)Reached the showroom at appointed time to find the car still being cleaned and the basic mud flaps and number plate also not installed. Requested the SA to hurry up the process and also the documentation. He made me sign couple of forms and made login into the Mahindra and Adrenox apps. Unveiling the car: My son taking the big key handover Thanking the SA with a small gift The SA Mr. Adil tried explaining the long list of features in the shortest amount of time. I took in about 50% of what he said as my mind was buzzing with excitement. Took delivery and drove car back home after filling the tank. A distance of 7 kms in the peak traffic time in one of the most congested roads – Ghodbunder road aka God’s blunder road. It was by far one of the most nerve wracking drives for me, but thank God I reached home without any battle scars. Evening was the Vehicle pooja at Sri Raghavendra Swamy Temple in Thane. And once we completed the pooja at the temple is when I felt a bit relaxed in the entire day. Saturday (22-Nov) – First weekend of BagheeraStill i had run only about 20 kms and the odo stood at 94.Odo at the time of PDI: 71Odo at the time of delivery: 74Had to the take Bagheera for a stroll so as to stretch its legs. We went to Trimbakeshwar to seek the blessings of Baba. Had a very good darshan and came back to Thane the same day. Bagheera had good run on Samruddhi Mahamarg. I could test out the ADAS features. What a drive – XUV swallows the speed breakers and the pot holes. At the entrance of SMM: At Trimbakeshwar Temple: Unique buiding at Trimebakeshwar Odo stands at 495 kms. And I can’t stop myself going to the parking & admire the beauty. Thanks for reading. – DSK0909 Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
