Production of the third-generation BMW Z4, which was first revealed back in 2018, is set to come to an end with the introduction of the Final Edition in the United States. Developed alongside the Toyota GR Supra that is also going away, the current Z4 won’t have a direct successor, leaving just the 4 Series and 8 Series as the convertibles in the brand’s line-up.
As the swansong model, the Z4 Final Edition is based on the M40i with a B58 3.0 litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine making 387 PS (382 hp or 285 kW) and 500 Nm of torque. This drives the rear wheels through an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission that enables a top speed of 250 km/h (around 155 mph) and 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) time of 3.9 seconds. A six-speed manual option is also available that keeps the same top speed but its century sprint time is increased to 4.2 seconds.
According to BMW, production of the Z4 Final Edition will be in “very small numbers” from February to April 2026. Each one retails for USD77,500 (about RM320k) and comes with a standard kit list, with the transmission being the only differentiator.
That kit list includes the Shadowline Package that adds gloss black trim to the mirror caps, kidney grille, lower air intake, air breathers and exhaust finishers. There’s also a Moonlight Black soft top, M Sport brakes with red callipers and staggered (19-inch front and 20-inch rear) M dual-spoke bicolor Style 800M wheels. All Z4 Final Edition cars are also finished in an exclusive BMW Individual Frozen Black metallic paint.
Customers who go with the manual transmission will get special chassis tuning developed for the Edition Handschalter Package that features unique auxiliary springs at the front and rear axles and a specially reinforced anti-roll bar clamp fitted at the front. The mapping for electronic control of the rear dampers and the software for the variable sport steering is also reconfigured, while the traction control and M Sport differential receive unique control logic.
On the inside, you’ll find red contrast stitching on the instrument panel, center console, door panels, and M Sport seats, the last of which are trimmed in Vernasca leather and Alcantara. Red piping is also found on the floor mats, along with M tricolour seatbelts and sill plates with the model name inscribed.
Other items in the kit list include the Driving Assistance Package, Premium Package (ambient lighting, Parking Assistant, head-up display and Active Park Distance Control) as well as a Harman Kardon surround sound system.
