BHPian rarit26 recently shared this with other enthusiasts: I found a simple way to keep the exhaust valves open on the M340i LCI2 – makes the stock exhaust noticeably throatier without any major mods. On the LCI2, the valves only open in Sport mode, never in Comfort, which is annoying since Sport can feel too twitchy for daily city driving. I looked into the OEM M Performance exhaust but thanks to the new OPF setup on these cars, there aren’t really any worthwhile options right now.The Mod1.Put the car in Sport and confirm the valve is open on the right exhaust tip. 2.Pop the boot and open the right-side cubby to access the relay box. 3.Pull the 7.5A fuse F203 (shown in the image below). That’s it. With the fuse removed, the ECU no longer has power to control the valve, so it stays open across all drive modes. Exhaust note is deeper and more present at all times. From inside the cabin, the difference is subtle, but sounds more fun. Checked with my OBDLink – no error codes so far. Obviously, do this at your own risk, but it’s a cheap and reversible way to make the car sound the way it should have from the factory.Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
