All-New 2025 BMW M5: BMW’s Most Powerful Sedan Yet!

Get ready for an exciting ride as BMW is preparing to launch the next-generation M5 in July 2024, promising an electrifying performance. This high-powered sedan is rumored to deliver an impressive 735 horsepower and 735 pound-feet of torque, thanks to its innovative use of four electric motors.

The new M5 will share its powertrain with the plug-in hybrid XM Label Red SUV and will continue to be offered as a sedan. There are also rumors about the possibility of an M5 Touring wagon coming to North America. The M5 aims to provide an electric-only driving range of up to 60 miles, as long as you keep your speed below 87 miles per hour. This blend of electric and gasoline power promises both thrilling performance and improved efficiency.

In terms of design and features, the upcoming M5 will sport a fresh look with advanced equipment. It will introduce rear-wheel steering, larger brakes, and optional 22-inch wheels, enhancing its handling and stopping power. BMW will reveal more details as the release date approaches, but excitement is already building.

The new M5 will be powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 gasoline engine paired with a lithium-ion battery pack, similar to the XM Label Red’s drivetrain. This combination will deliver power to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The current gasoline-only M5 can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds, and with the added horsepower and torque from the electric motors, even quicker acceleration is expected. Although the plug-in hybrid system might add some weight, the enhanced brakes and rear-wheel steering should ensure top-notch performance.

While the battery size for the plug-in hybrid M5 is still uncertain, it is likely to feature the 25.7-kilowatt-hour battery from the XM SUV. This should provide an electric driving range of 60 miles and allow speeds up to 87 miles per hour until the battery needs recharging. With a 7.4-kilowatt onboard charger, recharging to full capacity in just over three hours seems likely.

The 2025 BMW M5 is anticipated to start at around $120,000, with higher-end models reaching up to $140,000, depending on trim and options. As the release date approaches, car enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting more details on this high-performance marvel.
