BHPian binand recently shared this with other enthusiasts 1. Bangalore(-Mysore)-Madikeri-Sullya-Bandadka-Kasargod: What I dislike is the very heavy traffic between Mysore and Madikeri. If you can manage those 120 km without losing your cool, you should be fine throughout. Beyond Madikeri, the Sampaje ghat is lovely to drive down. 2. Bangalore-Hassan-Gundya-Kukke-Sullya, and the same as above: This has a lot more internal Karnataka roads. I have driven only till Kukke on this route; it was fine then, though traffic is a bit on the higher side. The common section: Sullya-Bandadka-Kasargod – the Sullya-Bandadka is about 20 km through a forest with very little traffic. Nothing really to worry here. I travelled as recently as last week of November, and it was totally fine. The rest of it is a regular Kerala inter-town road – good surface, heavy on traffic. You might want to consider going all the way to Mangalore and driving down the redeveloped section of NH 66 (Thalapady-Kasargod) and onwards to Bekal. It could take a bit of extra time, but at least there is nothing else to worry about. Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
