Genesis GV60 Magma – brand’s first production high-performance model; 650 hp/770 Nm, 0-200 km/h 10.9 s

Genesis has unveiled the GV60 Magma, the brand’s first production high-performance model at the Magma world premiere where the Magma GT Concept was also unveiled.

Based on the GV60 EV that made its debut in 2022, the GV60 Magma sports a dual-motor powertrain rated to produce 609 hp and 740 Nm, or up to 650 hp and 790 Nm with Boost Mode activated. Claimed 0-200 km/h time is 10.9 seconds with launch control engaged, and a top speed of 264 km/h.

These performance figures from the GV60 Magma are on par with those of Hyundai group stablemate, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, with up to 650 PS and 770 Nm with the N Grin Boost momentary boost function engaged. According to Autocar, the GV60 Magma gets a 84 kWh battery, and its 800-volt architecture can take up to 240 kW of DC charging.

In addition to its initial acceleration with Boost Mode engaged (possible for up to 15 seconds), the manufacturer says that the GV60 Magma can also maintain consistent power output at higher speeds. Three drive modes are offered; Sprint, GT, and MY, the latter offering customisable settings for the vehicle’s electronic LSD, stability control and other parameters.

Chassis alterations applied to the GV60 Magma relative to the standard GV60 include a 20 mm-lower ride height, different geometry and roll centre, electronically controlled suspension, and revised bushings in the front and rear. rolling stock isa set of 21-inch alloy wheels with 275 mm-wide tyres, while stopping power is by front monobloc brake callipers with enlarged discs, and rear brakes with uprated pads.

Despite the wider tyres, Genesis says that cabin quietness in the GV60 Magma is retained with the use of Active Noise Control-Road, sound-insulating glass and reinforced door sealing.

As par for the performance model course, the GV60 Magma gets a dedicated digital interface to distinguish the high-performance variant from the regular model. Activating Magma Mode calls up a three-circle layout for the driver’s instrument display, for data including motor and battery temperatures, speed and g-forces. The head-up display also gets simplified to show speed, regenerative braking and remaining boost time.

Market introduction of the Genesis GV60 Magma will begin with Korea at the start of 2026, with European and North American markets to follow.
