BHPian Padam2151 recently shared this with other enthusiasts: I own the 2014 Renault Duster RxZ Dci AWD. It’s a pre-owned beast that I brought back in 2019 with 54,000 km on the odometer. Currently, the Odo stands at around 134500 kms. Last week, I was travelling to Kolhapur and suddenly the dashboard showed the warning light of the glow plug (spring), engine light, and traction control. Being aware of this error, I simply ignored it because for the last 1 year, the error has shown up multiple times when driving sedately and using the cruise control. I already showed this error to a well-known repair shop previously, and during the test drive using an OBD scanner, it did not appear . The shop owner advised me to use the car as it is unless you get a sign that anything is off, except the error light. So, this time felt exactly the opposite. The car started vibrating and felt a bit of power loss. Also, the RPM needle started vibrating just under 2k RPM and took its time to climb above 2k. Pulled aside to a safe space and tried the usual method of pumping the fuel pressure balloon located in the engine bay. Upon starting started drive, the issue was still there. As the family members were on board, we decided to drive slowly and reach home. Upon reaching, I called the repair shop owner (Swami Diesels) and explained the issue. He requested to come in the morning to diagnose. The next day, I arrived at the Swami Diesels, and the owner scanned the car using OBD. He found that 1st Fuel Injector was gone, i.e., it was short. He advised repair, so I gave the approval after discussing the estimated cost. After about 2 hours later, the Injector was ready, and it was installed again. We took a test ride, and just while taking the reverse, the lights disappeared (It’s Magic). Performed a good 4-5 km test, and felt that the engine was back to life. The acceleration felt more agile than before, and on OBD, there were no errors. Made a payment, thanked the shop owner for the fabulous work done. Now, how I came across this shop: Back in 2023, my car had a breakdown on NH4. The car refused to start near the toll plaza. I sensed something was major off, so I decided to send it to the Renault service Center. So, I towed it on a flatbed truck and sent it to Renault Kolhapur for its repair. The Renault service team diagnosed the issue, which was a fuel pressure pump failure due to faulty fuel. They gave the repair estimates upwards of 60k. The pressure pump (Continental) needs to be replaced, which costs a whopping 56k. Plus, you need to clean the tank and fuel assembly, which costs separately. For the entire process, it may take 2-3 weeks. I was not ready to digest this, as the time and cost were so high. Upon discussing with one of my relatives who runs a pick-up and mini carrier vehicle repair garage, he said Don’t spend money on buying new, we will see if we can repair it. He shared a contact and requested to talk with the shop owner. Upon explaining the scene over the call, he informed me that we can repair this, and what you can do is bring the pressure pump and all 4 Injectors for diagnosis. I followed the same, and must say that they did an fabulous job of repair, and the car was back to life. The pressure pump repair and cleaning of all four injectors cost me around Rs. 16,000/-, and I was extremely happy with the decision I took. That day, I saved the owner’s contact number (I was aware of the fact that the Duster has the very famous injector issue and might need a contact in the future until I sell the car). Below are a few details:Shop Name: Swami DieselsContact No: +91-9021415851 (Mr. Sagar Salunkhe)Location: Shivaji Udhyamnagar, Kolhapur, Maharashtra.Type of work to be done here: All cars’ Fuel Injectors, Fuel Pressure Pumps – cleaning, and repairs. Highly recommended for TBHP members who want to spend money on repairs instead of replacements for car engine parts. Note: I’m not associated with any promotion for this shop, and it’s purely based on my experience and interaction with the Owner. Happy Driving!
