The ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries) has released the latest safety test results from the programme, namely for the MG S5, Zeekr X, BYD Seal and the Suzuki Fronx. All four of the latest entries have scored the fully five-star rating from ASEAN NCAP.
Starting with the MG S5, the electric SUV scored 30.32 out of a possible 32.00 points in the adult occupant protection (AOP) assessment, with 43.33 from a possible 51.00 points in the child occupant protection (COP) assessment. In the safety assist assessment, the MG S5 scored the full 21.00 points, while attaining 14.00 out of a possible 16.00 points in the motorcyclist safety (MS) assessment.
For the MG S5, safety assistance systems included autonomous emergency braking (AEB), forward collision warning, land departure warning, lane keep assist and blind spot detection, along with six airbags, ESC, ABS, and seatbelt reminders for front and rear seat occupants, pedestrian protection and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
All in, the MG S5 achieved an overall score of 92.39 points. In Malaysia, the MG S5 was launched in May this year starting from RM111k, in 40 kWh and 62 kWh battery variants.

Joining the quartet of vehicles most recently tested by ASEAN NCAP is the Zeekr X, which scored the full 32.00 points in the adult occupant protection (AOP) assessment, with 43.70 out of a possible 51.00 points in the child occupant protection (COP) assessment. The full 21.00 points were scored in the safety assist assessment, and 14.00 out of a possible 16.00 points in the motorcyclist safety assessment.
Safety systems on the Zeekr X included AEB, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and blind spot detection, along with seven airbags, ESC, ABS, seatbelt reminders for front and rear occupants and rear seat occupant detection, pedestrian protection and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
All in, the Zeekr X achieved an overall score of 94.64 points. In Malaysia, the Zeekr X was launched in December 2024, in two variants starting from RM156k.

Next is the BYD Seal, which was updated this year. The 2025 BYD Seal scored 30.75 from a possible 32.00 points in the adult occupant protection (AOP) assessment, and 42.33 from a possible 51.00 points in the child occupant protection (COP) assessment; it scored 20.50 from a possible 21.00 points in the safety assist assessment, and 14.00 from a possible 16.00 points in the motorcyclist safety assessment.
Safety systems in the 2025 BYD Seal included AEB, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and blind spot detection, along with nine airbags, ESC, ABS, seatbelt reminders for front and rear occupants and rear seat occupant detection, pedestrian protection and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
All in, the 2025 BYD Seal achieved an overall score of 92.07 points. In Malaysia, the 2025 BYD Seal was launched in August this year, in two variants starting from RM172k.

Rounding out the quartet of models tested most recently is the Suzuki Fronx, which was opened for booking in September this year.
The Suzuki Fronx scored 29.37 from a possible 32.00 points in the adult occupant protection (AOP) assessment, and 38.94 from a possible 51.00 points in the child occupant protection (COP) assessment; it scored 16.50 from a possible 21.00 points in the safety assist assessment, and 8.00 from a possible 16.00 points in the motorcyclist safety assessment.
Safety systems in the Suzuki Fronx included forward collision warning and lane keep assist, while AEB and blind spot detection are available as optional fitment, according to ASEAN NCAP. Also included in the Suzuki Fronx are ESC, ABS, seatbelt reminders for front and rear occupants, pedestrian protection and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
All in, the Suzuki Fronx achieved an overall score of 77.70 points. The Suzuki Fronx is set for Malaysian launch in the fourth quarter of this year.
