15,000 km Update, Early 3rd Service
Every opportunity I get to take the bike out, no hesitation whatsoever. With monsoon lurking around the corner, it is indeed getting difficult to keep it clean. But riding in wet conditions is a vibe as they say . Went for third service with oil change today (23rd August 2025). Attaching the invoice below:

Once again, I have done the third service early as its actually due next month-end only as I wanted to combine with the periodic oil change. Apart from this, I had an issue with my rear brakes as there was lack of bite. I recently changed it, (stock Yamaha ones), but still issue persisted with lack of bite I used to get earlier. Dropped the bike at around 9.00 AM at Shanti Motors, Pallikkarnai, mentioned to have the rear ones checked. Overall experience was hassle free and straight-forward, with overall amount coming around Rs 4065/-. They have mentioned that, they have checked the cleaned up the rear pads a bit for better bite, but on the way home, still didn’t get a feeling of much improvement. Of course, bike has been through a water-wash, so maybe it will get better as I ride a bit more, but need to see. With this, all three free services are done, need to see how paid services go from next time onwards.
Update as of 23-08-2025 : The showroom guys mentioned, there is one ready stock of MT03 available. R3 stocks are done. If anyone of you guys are interested on getting an MT03, you can contact Shanti Motors for more information on the same.
Accessories Added:
The EBC brake-pads added in front as mentioned before, are amazing compared to the stock ones. While it does cause a little screeching like sound on application, bite is so much better than the stock ones offered by Yamaha. Definitely recommend opting for these semi-sintered ones at least in the front as its pretty important and does make a significant difference.
As stated in my earlier posts, I have ahead with getting a fork seal protector. With monsoon conditions, better to have it than not. I went with MotoTrendz as per recommendation from a fellow biker. Installation is very straight-forward and simple, with Velcro straps and zip ties.

Hopefully reduces chances of fork leaks
E20 concern:
Officially as per manual, the bike is comfortable with maximum of E10. Thanks to our “forward” thinking people in the Government, we do not have an option/choice. Infuriating times we live in really. Currently, on my office commute route, I only have three options, Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil and Shell. Unfortunately it seems, all three of them irrespective of normal/premium petrol all have E20 . At the moment, I am sticking with Shell V-Power, which I assumed was E10, but unfortunately that’s also not the case. I am not too trusty of non COCO bunks (Company Owned and Company Operated) from other petrol stations. Haven’t faced issues with petrol quality yet with Shell, so going with the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ ideology at the moment. Basically like choosing one poison which has the worst impact (so far). I do have one COCO IOCL petrol bunk near my home, but its not on my commute route. There is a good chance I can get XP100 there (a whopping 160 per litre) which is is E0, maybe for my birthday/bike’s one year ownership completion or for some special occasion, will consider it. At the moment, thankfully, nothing out of the ordinary has happened. Mileage, I am getting an average of 25-26 kmpl still. But we know this is a slow poison and with rumors of E27/E30 lurking around, God knows what’s going to happen.
Anyway coming back to the ownership, here are photos on commutes/breakfast rides. Next major trip, I am planning is for Kolli Hills, juicy 70 hairpins will be unreal on this machine!

Love this tail-light so much! Unique and distinctive which the newer R3 has lost as it has gone with the same design as the R15

The abandoned Unicorn is a bit jealous I guess

Everytime I clean up, within a day or two, its back to square one thanks to roads like these (in next pic)

When it temporarily has to be a Tenere 300

With my younger brother’s R15. A nice side by side comparison of propertions

Twin Headlight vs Projector

Two legends

Nowadays Pondy has become really comfortable enough to be called a breakfast ride.

Not me! That’s my dad, looking 30 years younger
Until next time,
Ride Safe!
