New 2025 Honda CR-V – The Best Compact Crossover for Every Journey!

The 2025 Honda CR-V is a compact crossover that continues to be one of the most popular choices in its segment. It offers comfortable seating, impressive fuel efficiency, and a size that makes parking easy. Honda has crafted this model to be practical yet engaging to drive, giving it an edge over many competitors. With a choice between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, the standard nonhybrid model is powered by a turbocharged engine that produces 190 horsepower. The hybrid version, which delivers 204 horsepower, is reviewed separately. While some rivals like the Mazda CX-50 offer a more luxurious feel and the Ford Bronco Sport is better suited for off-road adventures, the CR-V stands out for its balance of comfort, agility, and technology. Because of these qualities, it has earned a spot on the list of ten best trucks as well as the editors’ choice list for 2025.

For this model year, there are no significant changes, meaning the CR-V retains the same features and performance that have made it a favorite among buyers. The starting price is 31,450 dollars, with the highest trim reaching 36,350 dollars. The lineup consists of three gasoline-only models: LX, EX, and EX-L. Meanwhile, the Sport, Sport-L, and Sport Touring trims come with a hybrid powertrain. Among the nonhybrid options, the EX-L is the most recommended due to its premium features, which include leather upholstery, a power-operated tailgate, and a larger touchscreen.

Under the hood, the CR-V is equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 190 horsepower. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission and comes with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Every model includes hill-descent control, which helps maintain a steady speed on steep or slippery surfaces. The CR-V delivers a smooth ride, and while it may not offer the same excitement as the Mazda CX-50 or the Volkswagen Tiguan, it remains a well-rounded performer.

In acceleration tests, the nonhybrid EX-L took 8.1 seconds to reach sixty miles per hour. This places it slightly behind some competitors, and the transmission can make the engine sound noisy when pushed hard. However, the CR-V remains a dependable choice for everyday driving. It also has a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds when equipped with the necessary towing accessories.

Fuel efficiency is another strong point. The front-wheel-drive version of the nonhybrid CR-V achieves an estimated 28 miles per gallon in the city and 34 miles per gallon on the highway. Opting for all-wheel drive slightly lowers these figures. In real-world tests, an all-wheel-drive EX-L achieved 31 miles per gallon during highway driving at 75 miles per hour.

Inside, the CR-V features an elegant design with a honeycomb-textured trim that spans across the dashboard, cleverly concealing the air vents. The driver benefits from a mix of analog and digital gauges, including a seven-inch display that provides useful driving information. Honda has designed the front seats to minimize fatigue on long trips, and adjustments have been made to improve the driving position. The spacious center console provides ample storage, while the rear seats offer additional reclining comfort and slightly more legroom than the previous model. With the adjustable load floor set at its lowest position, the cargo area provides 39 cubic feet of space.
