New 2025 Volvo S90 – Scandinavian Elegance and Modern Technology!

The 2025 Volvo S90 is a luxury sedan that offers a spacious interior and a refined design. It provides the comfort of a full-size sedan while being priced more like a mid-size competitor. However, it has a few characteristics that set it apart. The first is its platform, which has been in use for several years. The second is its powertrain, as every model comes with a four-cylinder engine, which does not always match the refinement of some competitors.

For 2025, Volvo has simplified the model lineup. The plug-in hybrid variant is now called T8 All-Wheel Drive, removing the previous Recharge label. The highest trim level has also been renamed Ultra instead of Ultimate. Pricing for the 2025 Volvo S90 starts at fifty-nine thousand four hundred ninety-five dollars and goes up to seventy-two thousand three hundred ninety-five dollars, depending on the trim and options. The T8 plug-in hybrid is the most compelling choice, delivering more power than the B6 mild hybrid while offering improved fuel efficiency and an electric driving range.

The B6 mild hybrid is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a forty-eight-volt hybrid system. While it provides sufficient acceleration, it does not match the refinement of some competitors that offer four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines. The T8 plug-in hybrid is noticeably quicker and quieter, thanks to its electric motors, but the gasoline engine can still produce rough sounds under acceleration. Handling is stable, but the ride is not the smoothest. The suspension transmits some road imperfections into the cabin, and while the steering is weighty, it lacks the precision expected in a luxury sedan.

In terms of acceleration, the B6 mild hybrid reaches sixty miles per hour in six point four seconds. The previous version of the T8 plug-in hybrid completed the same test in four point five seconds, and the latest version is expected to deliver similar or even better performance.

Fuel economy differs between the two models. The B6 mild hybrid is rated at twenty-two miles per gallon in the city and thirty-one miles per gallon on the highway. The T8 plug-in hybrid, when using both electric and gasoline power, achieves a combined rating of sixty-six miles per gallon equivalent. In real-world testing, the B6 mild hybrid returned twenty-nine miles per gallon on the highway.

The most impressive aspect of the Volvo S90 is its interior. High-end materials such as open-pore wood, genuine leather, and brushed metal create a modern and luxurious atmosphere. The fourteen-way power-adjustable front seats provide excellent comfort. However, some features that are common in this segment are missing. One notable omission is the power-adjustable steering column, as Volvo only offers a manual adjustment. Trunk space is generous, and models with folding rear seats provide additional cargo flexibility. For even more space, the V90 wagon is an alternative.

The infotainment system is modern but requires time to learn. The nine-inch touchscreen controls many functions, including climate settings and the optional head-up display. While the system is not difficult to use, it takes time to become familiar with its interface. Volvo’s latest Android-based system supports Apple CarPlay and offers over-the-air updates to keep the software current.

The 2025 Volvo S90 remains a distinctive choice in the luxury sedan segment. It combines elegant styling, a spacious interior, and advanced technology. While it may not be the most refined option, it continues to appeal to those who appreciate Scandinavian design and innovative engineering.
