Sufficient horsepower, rear-wheel drive, and a dose of sportiness. It’s a recipe that prompts some drivers to try and get the back end loose when they have no business doing so. On the other hand, it makes for some pretty entertaining video, like this Hyundai driver plowing his car into a pole while attempting a drift.

Security cameras capture useful footage of crimes to better protect owners and businesses. Sometimes, however, they capture ridiculous mistakes. Like a Hyundai driver crashing his coupe into a barrier and totaling it while trying to drift around a corner.
The popular video starts with a downward angle showing a corner and two bright-yellow barriers. A moment later, a dark-blue Hyundai Genesis Coupe comes into view, howling off the rev limiter.
One moment, the driver kicks the rear end out, billowing tire smoke as he slides around the corner. The next, he loses control of the coupe and sends it spiking front-first into one of the two yellow barrier poles.
“No, no, no, no, no! Damn it!” he yells as he climbs out of the wrecked Genesis Coupe. He punches a surface next to him and continues to survey the damage. It’s bad.
“My life’s over. My life’s over,” he said to his passenger instead of something like “Are you ok?” At a glance, it might be an overreaction. On the other hand, it might not be his car. Fortunately, it doesn’t appear that the driver or passenger sustained any injuries.
Still, without mention of the sentimental value or modifications he put into the car, this coupe isn’t worth all that much. The average sales price for a 2009 to 2016 Genesis Coupe is $11,905 as of this writing, per Classic.com.
However, several recent sales have seen the model sell for less than $10,000 with higher mileages or altered title status.
Viewers were blown away by the barrier’s steadfastness
Interestingly enough, several viewers applauded the barrier for stopping the wayward Hyundai in its tracks. “That little yellow stopper stood its ground,” one viewer responded.
“That little yellow stopper stood its ground,” another commented on the crash video. A raise indeed. Perhaps something in a double its salary from $0 to a whopping $0 solution.
A TikTok user and racing video game enthusiast weighed in. “Funny enough, if he had just stayed on the throttle, that Genesis would have made the corner.”
