BHPian cdrajeevkumar recently shared this with other enthusiasts: I travelled on NH48 yesterday, 18th Oct (Pune – Blore) and here are my observations:Diversions every 2-3 kms on the Maharashtra end. Service roads are manageable but be aware of stalled trucks leading to chaos.Roads after Kognoli Toll plaza are the BEST. Freeing up your legs as you can constantly cruise between 80 – 100 kmph (Be aware of speed cams along as some portions are limited to 80 kmph and some at 100 kmph)Dharwad bypass road is as pathetic as ever. Extremely bad & you’d imagine yourself in a roller-coaster instead of a road!. Be aware of cars trying to cut across lanes with their high beams flashing!Road is good upto Tumkur and post Tumkur, upto Bangalore is a nightmare due to a very small service road that strains to accommodate trailers & small cars simultaneouslyTotal distance: 872 Kms (Lohegaon – Nagarbhavi) Time taken: 15 Hrs (With breaks of 1.5 for breakfast, 0.5 hrs for lunch & 10 mins for refueling) For lunch, we stopped at Sai Ganesh near Hubli. Place & food is awesome. They have EV charge stations too! Refueling: At HP Petrol Pump near Davanagere (Opp Apoorva Resorts) If doing Bangalore – Pune (Kalyani Nagar), I’d say go ahead on NH48. The stress you would have while managing Bangalore’s potholed & bumpy roads will vanish the moment you go past Tumkur (Upto Kognoli toll post). Happy & Safe Driving!
