Toyota is working to rectify a fault in more than 100,000 vehicles that may prevent their parking cameras from working properly.

The Japanese auto brand is calling this a “Customer Service Exercise” rather than a recall, and is offering reprogrammed software free of charge to owners of all affected bZ4X, C-HR, Camry, Corolla Cross, Kluger, LandCruiser 300 Series, Mirai, Prado and RAV4 vehicles.

“The subject vehicles are equipped with a Parking Assist ECU, which is a component of the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system that displays the rearview image,” the company says in a notice on its website.

“The software in this ECU may cause (1) the rearview image to freeze briefly during the backing event if reverse is selected within a specific time after ignition is turned on; or (2) the rearview image not to display on the next ignition on if the ignition is turned on and off within a specific time.”

  • A total of 108,862 vehicles are affected, produced between 2022 and 2025
  • The notice and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list are attached here

Toyota Australia says it’s contacting all affected owners.

An inspection and reprogramming conducted at one of its dealers will take approximately one hour but, depending on the dealer’s work schedule, owners may need to make their vehicles available for a longer period of time.

If you have any further questions, you can contact a Toyota Australia dealer or the Toyota Campaign Helpline on 1800 987 366 on weekdays from 8am to 6pm AEDT.
