BHPian shankar.balan recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Quote from BHPian Harsha89:@shankar.balan sir Fantasic write up with some lovely pictures. It was a very interesting read. Can you please elaborate on some comparisons with your EV6 in terms of NVH, Front seat comfort, Ride comfort and driving dynamics.. How would you rate the comfort and sound insulation of the cabin at speeds of 80-100 km/Hr ?Volvo EX30, Kia EV6 and Hyundai Kona EV ComparedDriving in city I could only do very short bursts of acceleration to understand the power delivery. Not possible to do sustained bursts of speed. Hence cannot really comment usefully on sound insulation at the 80-100kmph speeds. Basis the in-city drive I found the NVH excellent. In fact I would say slightly better than the NVH of my Kona and even my EV6. Front seat comfort, Ride Comfort and Driving Dynamics – well honestly the Volvo EX30 is perfect for a driving enthusiast for self-driving purposes.it is NOT suitable for Chauffeur Driven folks unless they choose to sit in the front passenger seat. Ride comfort in the city in the EX30 is excellent. The suspension is very well tuned. As I said the 170mm GC also helps. The inherent compactness, RWD and explosive power of the EX30 enables you to indulge your enthusiasm and it is much more ‘chuckable’ than the Kona (because the Kona is FWD) and the EV6 (because it is a longer car), in that sense. The EX30 is a very good ‘driver’s car’ in my view. As an aside, the Kona is more suitable for daily in-City driving in our Indian conditions than the EV6 is. The EV6 is a wonderful dreamliner for long distance touring as a highway cruiser. But its dimensions are very wide and large, for our narrow roads and crowded streets. So if one were to actually go for an All Electric Garage in present day circumstances, and if one has that kind of budget to deploy, then the Volvo EX30 would be a super choice for daily city usage and those once in a way highway runs. One could probably complement this car with a Merc EQS SUV or an Audi e-Tron or a BYD Sealion 7 or a BMW iX3 or a Kia EV6 or a Hyundai Ioniq 5 as the long distance tourer for the long range highway duties. And considering things as they are, I think over the next couple of years there will be much more adoption of EV’s in the Urban areas in India. It seems to be a good time for EV’s overall. I don’t want to spark an EV vs ICE debate here, but as a diehard car enthusiast, petrol head as well as now having become an electric head also as an owner of ICE vehicles and EV’s at present, I can clearly see the significant advantages that EV’s offer.Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
