Really kids, Herbie went to live on a farm upstate
Are you looking to be the talk of the next Volkswagen Bug car meet? Do you need the cutest tiny truck for your farm? Or are you just dreaming of a unique franken-truck that’s all “business” in the back and 100% “Love Bug” up front? If you said “yes” to any of these, you’ll want to see the 2000 VW Bug “Ute” conversion listed on Cars & Bids.
This little compact started its life as a turbocharged 2000 “New Beetle” from Volkswagen. It looks like it was involved in an accident in November 2006. Then, at some point, someone decided it needed a Smyth Performance Beetle Ute conversion kit. Since then, this fantastic ride has been blessed with lots of other goodies—but first, the kit.
If Herbie retired to a farm

The Smyth Performance Ute bed is fantastic. It has beautiful, swooping, “step-side”-style fenders that are perfectly paired with the art deco retro looks of the New Beetle. The chrome taillight pods look right at home. The tall tailgate is functional and even finished with retro “Volkswagen” lettering. This specific example’s got a tonneau cover. Perfection.
This specific VW Beetle Ute enjoyed some excellent modifications too. It’s got a VW High Life Stage 3 2.5-inch lift kit. Its 16-inch wheels are wrapped in Falken Wildpeak A/T tires. It’s also upgraded to GTI seats and a Jensen head unit. The interior has a beautiful diamond-stitched rear speaker panel. Finally, it’s been repainted in an electric blue. It’s an automatic with a sunroof and just 89,500 miles—truly ready for whatever adventure is next.
