2025 Ford Puma Gen-E Revealed – The Most Affordable EV?

Get ready for a new chapter in the world of electric vehicles with the upcoming 2025 Ford Puma Gen-E! This exciting electric SUV has been spotted in Europe ahead of its official unveiling later this year, with plans to launch in Australia following shortly after.

The Ford Puma Gen-E will be the only version of the Puma city SUV sold in Australia, replacing the petrol models that were discontinued earlier this year. Expected to be Ford’s most affordable electric vehicle in Australia, the Puma Gen-E will be priced below the $64,990 Mustang Mach-E family SUV. However, it may not compete with the $40,000 to $50,000 range offered by some Chinese electric vehicle brands.

For context, the petrol-powered Ford Puma, which will continue to be available in Europe with a refreshed look, was priced between $35,000 and $42,000. The electric version is anticipated to carry a premium of at least $10,000 more than its petrol counterpart.

Recent spy photos suggest that the differences between the petrol and electric Puma models will be subtle. The electric version will feature a closed-off front grille to enhance aerodynamics and a unique lower front bumper. The alloy wheels, lights, and rear bumper appear similar to the petrol model, but these could change in the final production version. Inside, the electric Puma is expected to retain the latest petrol model’s interior features, including a large 12-inch touchscreen, a 12.8-inch digital instrument display, and a two-spoke steering wheel.

The Puma Gen-E is set to share its electric motor with the latest Ford E-Transit Courier city van sold in Europe. This motor, positioned at the front, delivers 100 kilowatts of power and 290 Newton meters of torque. Both the Puma Gen-E and the E-Transit Courier are built on the same platform in the same Romanian factory. However, specific details regarding the driving range and battery capacity are still under wraps for both models.

Stay tuned for more information about the 2025 Ford Puma Gen-E as we get closer to its global reveal later this year and its subsequent arrival in Australia. This electric SUV promises to bring a new level of excitement and affordability to the electric vehicle market, making it a model to watch out for.
